The Myths About Hemp

There are many myths about the hemp plant, and what should be known is that there are two different hemp plants in the botanical world. One is the Cannabis sativa, which is the industrial hemp plant, the other is the well known marijuana plant. The two should not be confused, because there is a difference, the industrial hemp plant contains the scant amount of THC. That means even if smoked a person would not become high, as there is not enough THC that grows naturally in the industrial hemp plant. THC is that property found in the marijuana plant in high levels that can be used as a means of drugs.

Another of these myths that is it hemp is outlawed, in many countries it is farmed and hemp products are sold in stores. Even in countries it is illegal to grow hemp if there are still certain products that can be sold in stores. This is because the industrial hemp plant has such a wide variety of items that can be manufactured from this one plant and a short amount of growing time that it takes for the industrial hemp plant to mature makes it a valued plant.

It is also a myth that people in countries where it is illegal to grow industrial hemp are fighting to have legalized has a way to have marijuana legalized. The reality that is these people understand the value of this plant that can be used in making textiles, as a nutritious source of food, in building materials and other applications.
