Why hemp farming?
There are many reasons why farmers grow hemp crops; the industrial hemp plant needs little care while growing, as it is a part of the nettle family. The nettle genus is the botanical that is known for being able to survive in many types of soil and in many types of weather conditions. As it is a part of this family the industrial hemp has the ability to care for itself while growing by pushing away weeds and other pests.
Another reason the farmers find the industrial hemp the valuable crop is because it is a high yield crop that grows quickly and is used for many different purposes. There is not part of the hemp plant that cannot be used for manufacturing purposes or as food. The seeds are used for food and other purposes, the stalks can be used for textiles and building materials, the leaves can be as food or used in other products. Because of this the industrial hemp plant can be very a profitable crop, as it is a fast growing crop farmers are able to have a higher yield than with other types of crops.
Industrial hemp is a crop that is not new to farmers it has been used since ancient times; even in colonial America the hemp was a valued crop. These early settlers knew that it could be used for food, used in making material and for other valuable products. Hemp was even used as money in these early days of the country.
